What RuneClan Bot and this website keep, why, and how to have it removed. Last updated October 2026.

What RuneClan Bot stores

  • Discord: your Discord user ID (and, for display, your name and avatar as Discord shows them), and the IDs of the servers, roles and channels the bot works with.
  • RuneScape: the RuneScape 3 names you link, and the public data for those names that RuneScape publishes (stats, Adventurer's Log activity, clan membership and rank), saved at each refresh so history and recaps can be shown.
  • Recaps: whether you have opened each of your recaps (and when), and whether you share your recaps with your clan, so a recap stays private until you have seen it yourself.
  • Each server's settings: what its admins configure, such as channels, roles, welcome messages and the pictures they upload for them.
  • Tickets, polls and signups: what members submit through them, including ticket messages and transcripts, kept for the retention the server chooses.
  • The RuneSync plugin (only if you install it and switch kinds on): your own skill XP, drops, boss kill counts and clue completions from the game, kept 180 days. See the RuneSync privacy notice.
  • Admin activity: a log of changes made from the dashboard (who changed what, and when), kept so a server's admins can see it.

Message text: RuneClan Bot reads the text of messages only for features a server's admins switch on: automod, auto-delete and auto-purge rules, automatic replies, points for thank-you words, tickets, event wrap-up, Highlights, the starboard, the clan website's news block (channels an admin chose to make public) and message logs. Two features keep text. Message logs keep it so staff can see what an edited or deleted message said: for the 1 to 30 days the server chose (7 by default), never from direct messages, bots or excluded channels. Tickets keep a transcript of a closed ticket's messages for the server's staff, for as long as the server's transcript setting says (or until the server's data is deleted). Highlights keep only the words each member chose.

Online status: if a clan's admins turn on the “Who's online” box on their clan website, the bot reads members' online status (online, idle or do not disturb, not games or custom statuses) to show it. It is held in memory for a few seconds and never stored. You can hide yourself from that list in the clan site's privacy settings.

Member list: the bot sees who joins and leaves a server, and the server's member list, to run welcome and goodbye messages, autoroles, kept roles, the new-account check and clan role sync, for the features that server switched on.

What this website stores

Signing in with Discord shares your Discord user ID, name and avatar with the site (the identify permission only). It is kept in a sign-in cookie for as long as you stay signed in. The site uses no advertising or tracking cookies.

Discord Linked Roles (only if you verify)

Some servers give roles for RuneScape progress through Discord's Linked Roles. Only if you click such a role's link and sign in with Discord, the bot:

  • receives a Discord sign-in for your own account (the identify and role_connections.write permissions), and keeps its tokens encrypted so it can keep your details up to date. They are never shown, shared or written to a log;
  • shares only your own details with Discord: whether you have a linked RuneScape name and which one, your total and combat level, whether you are in a clan listed on RuneClans, and when you linked your name. Discord uses them to decide which roles you can have, in the servers you're in. No one else's data is shared;
  • updates those details when your levels or clan change (checked every hour, and at least daily) for as long as you stay verified.

To stop, use Unlink and stop sharing on the Linked Roles page (or remove the app under Discord's User Settings, Authorized Apps): your details are cleared on Discord and the tokens are deleted.

Who can see it

  • A server's admins see their own server's data on the dashboard. They cannot see another server's.
  • A linked RuneScape name and its public stats can appear on a clan's public pages if that clan has chosen to publish them; a member can opt out of being shown.
  • The person who runs RuneClan Bot can access the database in order to run and fix the service. It is not sold or shared with anyone else.

Removing your data

  • Unlink a name: use /rs and remove the account. That removes the link everywhere.
  • A server removes RuneClan Bot: its settings stop being used and its stored data is deleted automatically 30 days later, unless RuneClan Bot is added back first. The owner can also ask for it to be deleted sooner.
  • Anything else: ask in the Younglings Discord server (linked from the clan site) and your data will be removed or you will be told why it can't be.
